Safe Drinking Water Foundation

In Canada, we have come to expect that our tap water is safe to drink. In many First Nation communities, however, drinking water is often marginal or even unsafe. The current chemically-based approach to solving these drinking water needs in Aboriginal communities carries high economic and environmental costs, and often does not result in high-quality drinking water.

An Alberta Ecotrust Major Project Grant is helping the Safe Drinking Water Foundation to advocate for and implement biological treatment technology to substantially improve drinking water quality in these communities, while reducing environmental and ecological costs.
