Major transportation routes established in important wildlife habitat regions raise the challenge of balancing human use with wildlife movement patterns. The Miistakis Institute has therefore launched Road Watch, an innovative monitoring project using a web-based mapping tool to record wildlife movement along Highway 3 in the Crowsnest Pass.

A Major Project Grant from Alberta Ecotrust is making it possible for citizens, scientists and decision-makers to work collaboratively, learn together, and produce a useable set of wildlife movement data along Highway 3 in order to address wildlife conservation issues in the Crowsnest Pass.
