The Ripple Effect Water Stewardship
|
Alison C. (Calgary)
The momentum in
water stewardship is strong and growing amongst Calgary youth. The Ripple Effect Water Stewardship Project will closely follow the youth
engagement initiatives of the Toronto-based Ripple Effect Project, which has
shown proven successes over the past three years.
A committed Youth Advisory Group, aged
13-20, whose primary objective is water education and outreach, will be formed, and they will build
their own capacity through adopting critical thinking and research skills, gaining
knowledge on local and global water issues, and finding paths to solutions on
these issues. Through building individual and group capacity, they also will build community
capacity and understanding through outreach programs to schools, non-formal
settings, and the general public.
