Prairie grasslands in southeast Alberta are important natural habitats that support a high degree of biodiversity. Despite this high value, local residents generally have a low level of awareness about why grasslands are important to their local environment and community.

Currently, an interpretive trail system is being developed within the town of Redcliff by the town and Medicine Hat College. In addition to the traditional trail system being constructed, an opportunity exists to develop a more interactive and engaging experience that will strengthen the education impact.

Redcliff InterpretiveTrail Walks will develop a series of interpretive walks for this new trail system that integrates common multi-media devices (iPods, cell phones)  allowing participants to access and interact through video, audio, photo, the Internet, and other various applications while on the trail. The additional multimedia formats will provide more dynamic content and prompts that will connect the participant with stewardship actions they can take.

As a result, the Town of Redcliff will have a small-scale, cutting-edge interpretive experience that will engage participants and promote them to take action to help sustain and reduce impacts in their local environmen.
