Jackie Mann & Jonny Barrett (Calgary) Bicycles are an excellent alternative to motorized vehicles as a form of transportation. Local youth noticed challenges posed to cyclists in Calgary and saw this as an opportunity both to address environmental concerns and build community. YES Grant funding will help Jackie Mann and Jonny Barrett establish a community bicycle repair shop. The shop, using mostly reclaimed materials, will train and empower cyclists through bicycle maintenance and mechanics workshops. The Good Life Community Bicycle shop will also provide a venue for education and discussion about local environmental issues and cycling in Calgary.
