Defenders of Wildlife Canada

The Alberta Endangered Species Conservation Committee recommended in 2002 that the province's grizzly bear population be listed as a threatened species. The provincial government released its grizzly bear recovery plan in 2008.

A Major Project Grant from Alberta Ecotrust is supporting Defenders of Wildlife as they work to ensure that this plan will be effectively implemented. Defenders of Wildlife will seek expert review of the provincial plans and documents, and educate target audiences about the plight of Alberta's grizzlies and the provincial government's efforts to protect this key species.
