Cumulative Effects Study for the Ghost Watershed
|
Ghost Watershed Alliance Society
In support of Alberta's Water for Life strategy, the Ghost Watershed Alliance Society (GWAS) is undertaking a cumulative effects study of the watershed that looks at the impacts of all existing lands uses -- including motorized recreation, oil and gas development, forestry, grazing, and land development -- on water quality and quantity as well as wildlife habitat. As a step in the development of a watershed management plan, the cumulative effects study will show what will happen in a "business as usual" scenario and present a range of feasible options and best practices to maintain the ecological integrity of the watershed. GWAS will provide the baseline data to the multi-stakeholder Ghost Stewardship Monitoring Group that has been tasked with developing a master plan for motorized recreation in this important Alberta watershed.
