Lower Tawatinaw /Little Pine Watershed Assessment and Restoration Project:
|
Crooked Creek Conservancy Society of Athabasca
Intensive human developments such as agriculture, residences, industry, and transportation corridors are having significant cumulative ecological effects on the sub-watersheds of the Athabasca Basin. The Lower Tawatinaw River Watershed, both an ecologically significant Boreal wildlife corridor and a major transportation and human settlement pathway, suffers many of those impacts. Today, it is faced with further new threats with proposed major developments at its Athabasca Town riverfront mouth. The CCSA and partners, will lead a community ecological health assessment of the Lower Tawatinaw River and its Little Pine Creek tributary, facilitate the development of a draft State of the Tawatinaw Report and Watershed Management Plan and begin a phased restoration process.
