Conserving Core Grizzly Bear Habitat in Alberta and the Crown of the Continent
|
Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Southern Alberta
Ecological processes in The Crown are exhibiting modifications due to climate change. Southern Alberta's grizzly bear population is already declining as its habitat is further degraded. Albertans are concerned about the impacts of climate change on grizzly bear survival and core habitat persistence. CPAWS will develop and disseminate a series of science based reports detailing the impacts of climate change on wilderness and potential adaptive strategies in the Canadian portion of The Crown. These reports and related public outreach materials will become foundational pieces for conservation efforts in this region, such as the South Saskatchewan regional plan under the Land Use Framework.
