Make a Splash Alberta: Protecting Water for People and the Environment

In the Spring of 2009, the Government of Alberta announced that it will proceed with a review of its water allocation system with the goal of improving and updating the legislation guiding allocation systems. This provides a tremendous and unique opportunity to inform public dialogue on these significant changes and work to ensure that changes will protect water to meet basic human need and to ensure ecological integrity of our rivers, lakes and groundwater systems. The Sierra Club will create public dialogue through media, public forum and individualized workshops to ensure a level of public and decision maker understanding on water allocation processes while empowering people to engage in the decision making processes with regards to changes to water legislation.
