Year: 2009 Cycle: Spring Amount: $7,500 Visit grantee's website Monitoring Director: Ashley Lubyk Good Life Community Bicycle Shop By engaging a Summer Funds Coordinator, the Good Life will implement various programs to ensure continual intake of donated used bicycles, a vital source of revenue for both survival and growth. The GL will become THE bicycle recycling centre for Calgarians. The Coordinator will work to build organisational strength by tapping into their vast volunteer base and performing and improving essential administrative tasks to move GL strategically into the future towards becoming a sustainanble social enterprise. RESULTS More than any other Ecotrust grant, this one demonstrates the great link between supporting organizational capacity (i.e. staff) and on-the-ground results. By investing in a summer coordinator, Good Life was able to exceed many of their goals, despite some serious funding challenges, like the loss of a funding partner, unexpected rent increases and an increased demand for services.
