Alberta Ecotrust is now accepting Application submissions for its Community Grant Program. The deadline for all Community Grant Application submissions is April 15, 2008.

Alberta Ecotrust is a leader in building partnerships to create sustainable environmental benefits in our communities. We accomplish this primarily through our grant program and are proud to have contributed $3.5 million to over 300 projects throughout Alberta since 1992.

Guided by our mission, we recently undertook a significant review of our grant program in response to an in-depth survey of environmental leaders and practitioners in Alberta. As a result, the foundation is pleased to announce the framework of a new comprehensive grant program that will focus on enduring environmental protection. We invite you to look at our report “Maximizing Effectiveness: An Assessment of Environmental Priorities and Voluntary Sector Capacity Needs in Alberta”.

Our intent is to continue supporting community-based environmental action, while recognizing both the limited capacity of some groups and the need for adequate resources to undertake the important work of protecting our provincial ecosystems. We will give preference to those initiatives that contribute demonstrably to an organization’s mission and long-term goals.
