Multi-year Grants

*Note:  we regret to announce that we are unable to provide any multi-year grants in 2009.  We hope to re-instate this grant in the future.

This grant stream supports more comprehensive projects that are conducted over a longer period of time. This initiative will help groups improve their organizational effectiveness and be more strategic in planning and implementing work that leads to sustained environmental benefits. Application and reporting will be undertaken in consultation with foundation staff. Maximum grant is $60,000, to be distributed over a maximum term of 3 years.

Important Dates for Multi-Year Grant applicants

The Multi-Year grant is not available in 2009.

Applying for a Multi-year Grant

Applicants interested in applying for a Multi-year Grant must first contact our grant coordinator. If the project satisfies the Multi-year Grant eligibility requirements, you will be asked to submit a letter of intent [external link]. If approved you will only have about three to four weeks to complete the full application, so it is advisable that you have fully considered the details of your plan before submitting a letter of intent.

Submitting a Multi-year Grant letter of intent

1. Review and become familiar with the grant application requirements in the Application Guidelines [external link]. These guidelines provide an overview of essential information required for completing an application for Alberta Ecotrust. In particular, please:

  • Ensure your project addresses one of Alberta Ecotrust's three environmental priorities.
  • Ensure your project does not duplicate the efforts of others. (See our grants database for previously funded projects.)
  • Ensure you have networked with those that are doing similar work to explore opportunities to collaborate.
  • Ensure your project meets the SMART criteria (find out more about SMART criteria in the application guidelines [external link]).

2.  Download and review the Multi-year Grant Letter of Intent Form [external link], which will be available in September 2008.

3. Contact the Grant Coordinator [external link] at Alberta Ecotrust.

4. Complete the required forms [external link].

  • Multi-year Grant Letter of Intent Form
  • Organization Information Form

5. Submit the letter of intent form, organizational form, and any additional information specified in the grant application or application guidelines. All materials should be submitted electronically to grants@albertaecotrust.com [send email].
