Environmental Grants

Community Grants

This program is designed to support community-based projects that typically focus on local opportunities for change through stewardship and action. These projects must be completed in one year.

Important Dates for Community Grant applicants

  • April 15 - Spring application deadline (response by May 30)

  • October 15 - Fall application deadline (response by November 30) 

Applying for a Community Grant

1. Review and become familiar with the grant application requirements in the Application Guidelines.

  • Ensure your project addresses one of Alberta Ecotrust's three environmental priorities.
  • Ensure your project does not duplicate the efforts of others. (See our grants database for previously funded projects.)
  • Ensure you have networked with those that are doing similar work to explore opportunities to collaborate.
  • Ensure your project meets the SMART criteria (find out more about SMART criteria in the application guidelines).

2.  Download and review the Community Grant Application Form.

3. Contact the Grant Coordinator at Alberta Ecotrust:  403-209-2245 or grants[at]albertaecotrust.com.

4. Complete the Community Grant Application Form

5. Submit the application form, and any additional information specified in the grant application or application guidelines. All materials should be submitted electronically to grants[at]albertaecotrust.com.
