Back to School with Alberta Ecotrust: Learning You Can Use
As
a member of
an environmental nonprofit, do you wish you were a better fundraiser and knew
where the big fundraising opportunities were? Do you want to be more effective
as a participant in the multi-stakeholder processes that dominate Alberta
policy consultation? Are you unsure of the best way to reach out to your
community? Are you confused as to when and how you can "advocate" for your cause?
If you answered "yes" to any
of these questions, you'll want to register for Alberta Ecotrust's new slate of
fall and winter learning opportunities. Leading the list is Maximizing Engagement
2010, a full-day workshop offered in both Edmonton and Calgary. We are also offering a series of webinars on fundraising
that are tailored specifically for groups working on water, conservation, and air
and energy. More...

Sweat Equity Ecotrust Donors Work for Bow Valley Wildlife
Mixing a little pepper
spray with some hard manual work and baking the result under a hot August sun turns
out to be a terrific recipe for feeling great about your community investment
program. Or so it seemed to a group of 20 volunteers, mainly corporate partner employees and individual donors of Alberta
Ecotrust who recently devoted a day to learning how some of their community donations
are put to use. As Megan Marshall, a Community Program Advisor for Cenovus
Energy, put it, "What a rewarding way to spend the day!"

Real-World Survival: Introducing the Nonprofit Marketing Guide
Trying
to run a nonprofit organization — typically underfunded, understaffed and
overworked — can be flat out overwhelming. This is especially true for those
who, as "citizen leaders," lack the knowledge and skills to do much of what
needs doing to be truly successful. One of the things that needs doing most —
and one of things many leaders don't know a lot about — is marketing your
organization and its programs and services to the people you want to have
supporting it. If that's the case with you and your organization, take heart! Kivi
Leroux Miller is here to help. More...

“Remarkable Beyond Borders” The Crown of the Continent and the Policies of Place
Southwestern Alberta's 7-million-hectare Crown of the Continent is an
astonishing place — an ecological crossroads where plant and animal communities
from the Pacific Northwest, eastern prairies, southern Rockies, and boreal
forests mingle. It is also the headwaters of North America, where pristine
rivers originate and flow to the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and Hudson Bay.
Coming up, on September 23rd and 24th, it will also be the focus of "Remarkable
Beyond Borders: Shaping the Future of the Crown of the Continent," a
conference that will explore the past, present, and future of the Crown of the
Continent. To find out more about the program and to register, click here.
