The benefits of volunteering for Alberta Ecotrek are vast and varied. First and foremost, your volunteer hours help raise funds for grassroots environmental projects across Alberta. Over the past 14 years Alberta Ecotrust has impacted tens of thousands of people and has greatly enhanced our local environment. With your support this valuable work can continue.

Volunteering with Alberta Ecotrek could offer you an opportunity to expand your existing skills and experience. It is also a chance for you to meet some truly interesting, fun, and environmentally conscious people. A special bonus is offered for to those who volunteer for more than 8 hours. You are invited to join us Saturday night at Camp Chief Hector; dinner, live entertainment, and rustic accommodations will be provided.

Event Set-up and Tear Down Crew:
Volunteers participating in the set-up of Alberta Ecotrek would need to be available Friday September 9th. We will also need assistance returning the environment to it’s natural state Monday September 12th. This is a great job for both those who like to be active.

First Aid Assistant/Medic:
We are looking for individuals with First Aid and CPR training, as well as Medics. You will be located strategically throughout the race route to ensure the safety of participants, volunteers, organizers, and supporters of the event. Alberta Ecotrek organizers have developed a detailed safety plan to not only ensure everyone’s enjoyment and wellbeing.

Registration:
You will be the friendly face our racers see first thing in the morning before they start. You have to be happy and helpful even at 7 am. If you’ve got spark and want to start our racers off on a positive note we want you at the registration desk!

Massage Therapists:
We are looking for massage therapists to volunteer their expertise to provide 15 minute massages to racers. Massage therapists will be required for both the afternoon of September 10th and 11th. Your services will be greatly appreciated by our weary athletes.

Race Services:
Volunteers for the participant services team will be required throughout the event to provide information and direction to participants and their supporters. It will be your role to ensure that the event is enjoyable for racers and their fans!

Environmental Education Assistants:
This position is for individuals who have an interest in the environment and the ability to effectively share knowledge. You’ll be leading our interesting environmental education activities and challenges.

Corporate Sponsor Services:
Looking for friendly, outgoing, and helpful individuals to assist our corporate sponsors throughout the event. This position will require you to liaise between our sponsors and event organizers, and to effectively meet the needs of our supporters.

Course Marshals & Timekeepers
Help keep racers on track and volunteer as a course marshal or timekeeper.

Checkpoint Aid:
There will be a number of checkpoints throughout the course where racers can gain refreshments and may be required to complete skill-testing tasks. Volunteers at these stations will be providing much needed refreshments and overseeing surprise event challenges.

Entertainment Crew:
Your will need to be available Saturday afternoon and evening to set up for, and help with our fun filled night at Camp Chief Hector. Individuals on this crew must be physically fit and fun!!

Media:
Join this team and assist the Marketing and Communications Manager during the event as needed. Volunteers for this team must be skilled and tactful communicators.

Recreation Specialist:
Individuals with specialized knowledge regarding biking and canoeing/ rafting will be needed to guarantee these portions of the race run smoothly and safely. Please identify any relevant experience, knowledge or certification in these fields on your application form, if interested in helping with this portion of the race.
