Where we live and how we live has consequences on many ecosystems. Air and water quality, forests, wilderness and habitat are all impacted by consumer requirements. Many Calgarians are becoming more aware of these connections and more conscious of their consumer choices. The Alberta Ecotrust Ecohome is an interactive demonstration of a new way to build homes that is more conscious of these concepts.

At Alberta Ecotrust, we believe the environment is the foundation of a healthy community. Our goals for this project include:

• Build new industry and community partnerships with a common purpose
  
• Raise money for community owned environmental solutions
  
• Promote the charitable work of our foundation
  
• Demonstrate a variety of sustainable choices and alternatives
  
• Promote environmental philanthropy
  
• Provide a new platform for community engagement and awareness

We are grateful for the leadership and enthusiastic support of SAIT Polytechnic and Jayman MasterBUILT in moving this project forward. It has been embraced by hundreds of folks in the development and home building industry and we are very proud of the outcome.

The Alberta Ecotrust Ecohome is not experimental or futuristic. It is a conventional home with an "environmental twist" that will appeal to any prospective buyer interested in saving energy and money. The concepts used in this home are simple, replicable and affordable.
