Alberta Ecotrust would like to thank and congratulate Marcella Pesiri and Scott Warner, who purchased the Ecohome in January. The new owners will take possession of the home in mid-February. (For additional details about the pruchase of the Ecohome, please see our press release here)
Ecotrust would also to extend its sincere gratitude to Principal of First Commercial Real Estate Ltd. and Alberta Real Estate Foundation Governor Kevan Ladner, who generously provided his listing services as an in-kind contribution to the sale of the Ecohome.
A fundraiser for environmental grantmaker Alberta Ecotrust Foundation, the Ecohome was built in cooperation with SAIT Polytechnic and Jayman MasterBUILT™, with financial support from the Alberta Real Estate Foundation and many other sponsors. The proceeds will support the foundation’s role in providing grants to non-profit groups across Alberta for environmental projects. Rated as one of the most energy efficient conventional homes in Canada with an EnerGuide rating of 85, over 2000 people have visited the home since it opened its doors close to the end of September.

The "Ecohome" project is ultimately intended to provide a practical opportunity to engage and educate the public about issues like sustainability, energy efficiency, and green building while raising our own profile and ability to fund more projects. Proceeds from this project will support our charitable programs. The successful sale of the Ecohome will now provide new resources and a greater capacity to Alberta Ecotrust Foundation to support environmental projects throughout the province.
The mandate of Alberta Ecotrust is to build partnerships for environmental action at the community level. We do this primarily by securing and leveraging donations for the purpose of distributing matching grants to non-profit groups across the province for environmental projects.
In addition to funding projects we provide consultative support to community groups and generally promote public education and information about different methods of protecting, conserving and enhancing the environment.
Please consider supporting the work of Alberta Ecotrust by joining our family of individual or corporate donors.
