Love to organize and manage the time and schedule of a busy executive director? Type a gazillion words a minute? Get really excited by a complex spreadsheet? Enjoy planning events and engaging the public?

Then we think you are perfect for us!

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced administrative assistant who has a flair for financial and data management. We are looking for someone who speaks, reads and writes with excellent English and knows when to use commas, capitals and quotation marks. Our busy executive director needs a firm and helping hand in organizing her time, calendar and many commitments. She also needs someone with a level head to assist with supporting the board of directors and a few committees - taking minutes, sending information and planning meeting logistics.

Our program staff need assistance in administering their programs i.e. tracking donations and grants, communicating with committees, entering data, helping with events and ensuring that all programs we deliver are top notch and well run.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the nuances of the nonprofit sector; have 3-5 years of administrative and bookkeeping experience; have excellent proficiency with MS Office including Access or other databases; and recognize the critical importance of supporting our organizational mandate and our hardworking staff team. Team of talented and fun-loving environmental professionals seeks same for long-term commitment

About Us:

Alberta Ecotrust has been building relationships between the corporate and environmental sectors in Alberta for nearly 20 years.  We have deep roots in Alberta's environmental community and have raised funds to provide grants to hundreds of environmental organizations and projects across our fair province.  We also organize and host workshops, conferences and other events to build the capacity of the sector and celebrate environmental achievements.  We enjoy hiking through the hills and engaging in thoughtful conversations about how to create positive and lasting environmental and social change in Alberta.  We currently have an opening for a Program Coordinator.

We are Seeking:

We are looking for the right person to round out our team.  As a people person, you will enjoy working with our amazing volunteer committee members, grantees and the public-at-large.  You are self-motivated and efficient in executing tasks without compromising quality.  You have excellent interpersonal communication skills, value diverse opinions and are comfortable leading consensus-based processes.  You are a detail-oriented person able to juggle several tasks and timelines.  You have a degree or diploma in environmental studies, although work experience in and a passion for the environment may also be considered.  A strong understanding of the standard Office tools, including Access and Excel, is required.  Preference may be given to candidates with technical skills (web or database management/social media savvy) or with grants management programs (GIFTS).  It helps if you have experience with grant-making or in the non-profit sector.  It also helps if you have good taste in food and music.

More about the relationship:

The person who best fits this description will coordinate all aspects of our province-wide grant program and assist with our capacity program.  This includes prepping and processing applications and grants, organizing and hosting meetings and workshops, training volunteers, undertaking data input and analysis, evaluating grants and our own programs, and working with grantees.  There may be some evening and weekend work to attend events or meetings.  We offer an attractive salary for this entry-level position: $37,000-$45,000 per year with a 35-hour workweek.
